Hey, I´m going to write about my opinion about the book. I think it is a good book and it had a great end. Because´it tells you a bit about the future too, like how they are going to handel things from now on, how they are going to continue their lives and put what had happend behind.

About the familys´ secret, It was so weired and i´m glad that those sort of things can´t happen for real. Because i think many people would try it and it would be quite a mess in the world even if you sometimes think that you want to live forever or stop ageing and or hoped that somebody else did. I´m sure that it would be so boring and that you would get so tired of living.

I chose this part of the text because I thought this was going to happend before I even read it. I think Lisette in someway, cares about Nore after all. But she is to scared and self-absored to think about what will happend if she dosen’t take her family in the first place. She had the chance to shoot both Dave and Nore when they were outside of the cabin. But I think that Lisette was thinking of the consequences. If she had shoot Dave and Nore, it had been a clear proof that it wasn’t an accident. A fire, don’t have to be planned. It could be an accident as well.

“Are you okay?” An anxious voice asked me. “I got you in time? You didn’t get burned?”
Unable to speak, I managed to force open my eyes. Josie’s worried face hung suspended above me.

In this part of the text, Josie has saved Nore and Dave from the fire. Gabe gaved Josie the keys to the cabin before he and Lisette went away. I thought this scene was very touching. Both Josie and Gabe cares about Nore. But they are at the same time afraid of their mother. They don’t want to disappoint her. But despite this, they saved Nore from the fire. During the time that I was reading this book, I felt very sorry for Gabe and Josie. But when I started to approaching me to the end of the book, that feeling only became stronger. Especially at this scene.

Chapter 16-19

My list of words:

The quote I chose:

"They were the rites of the Bowl of Years." Her vocie was solemn. "Those who drink from the earthen bowl halt the progress of ageing."

She obviously drank from this bowl and from then on she never aged. And neither did Gabe and Josie. Everything was pretty obvious when I read this part. She made her children drink from that bowl too which was the reason why they didn't age too. And Nore finally found everything out.

If you think about it, it really isn't fun to not age because in that way you miss a lot. You may get a lot of experience of life, but it isn't worth it when you can't even age. Ageing is a big part of life that we all must go trough, no matter how much some hate it.
When you start to get a bit old, ofcourse you hate it because you want to stay young and beautiful forever, but after a while it starts to get really boring and not so great after all.

I don´t think that any woman can find it fulfilling to raise her kids forever! I think she will become crazy of allways having her kids with her, the same age and not develop . Of curse you love your kids but you allso want to see them grow up and havng kids of their own, and having their own life.

This explains so much up untill this point. When you reed it, the pices are starting to fall into place. The book starts to make some sence. And that she is even mentioning the part about what she wants in return ( when she askes if she wants her immortal soul in return) it kind of shows that she might be that desperate. I think she might even tought to consider the possibility of giving up her soul for eternal youth. And it is a scary thought.

Someone else's baby last chapters

I don't like the end of the book. I expected that Terry keep her child and buy one apartment and that she will made it.

Someone Else's Baby

I have read the last chapters of the book. I think the book was very good and interesting and it gaves me understanding. I can understand how it could be in her situation. The book is an example how a young woman's life could be.

She couldn't seem to find the words. And then suddenly she could.
"You spoil everything," she said. "You always have. You're a beast and a bully and you've taken my baby away and made me hate myself. You've ruined my life, that's what you've done. I hate you and I always will. You never liked me, did you? It was only Jon and Billy, little beasts and little bullies, you only ever liked boys. I was never good enough for you. Never. Nothing I did was right. The only good thing I ever did was have a baby. A beautiful baby. But you took my baby away, didn't you? You wouldn't let me keep her. My own baby. You took her away."


Terry regret her choice. She shouldn't leave her baby away, her own little baby. But her dad wouldn't like it and he said that the baby couldn't live in his house. Terry thought that it's her Dad's fault. She shouldn't listened to him,
she should fallow her own will - to keep the baby!
But then, when it's too late. Terry will find her baby. She went to the town and then she see a woman with a perambulator which she thinks she now. Terry took the baby and drove away. Then she discover that she had took the wrong baby..

In the journal Terry writes down: You are always in my thoughts Elizabeth.

This quotation felt like a sense of a poem and I liked the sense of it was so good and well written.

. I think the father is so heartless to not care about her daughter now that she need their love and support then when will they help her if they do not do it now, what should a small child do it harm they did not.
If you have determined to welcome a fetus to life, so believe that one should be put on its side and keep his speech or orders that came from deep down from the top now that Terry has determined that she would like births, but not take care of, she might should have thought more of the consequences. She can work, look for the father she need not take all the responsibility on herself. For she has welcomed this little child to life, so that the child needs love, warmth anything from her mother or father. What dad providing small child in the hospital and go from there. What does she think the child will feel when she grows up and read journal, but I hope that Terry will take care of her and have her outside, the question is will Elizabeth forgive her mother or parents when she grows up and read its journal. There is a song about only mother i don no what she's name is and she singing like this"my child hold down be strong" it is for both of them Elizabeth and Terry.

Chapter 11-15

When I read this I knew from that instant that they are locked in time, Gabe, Josie and Lisette and that they can’t do anything about it. He kind of revealed himself when he said all that to Nore. That just made her more suspicious than she already was. Maybe he wasn’t thinking straight when he said that, but this was exactly what Lisette had feared ever since Nore got to Shadow Grove.

“What about the picture? Charlie said that the people in it were living at Shadow Grove when he was working there. I don’t believe that photograph was taken then. My parents’ baby pictures were taken in the ‘thirties. They’re printed on regular paper like what’s used today. This picture was printed on some sort of old metal plating. I’ll bet you anything it was taken years before the woman in it married Robert Vardeman. I’ll bet the old man was her first husband and the children’s real father, Henri Bergé.”

And this also reveals the secret of the Bergé family. It was very smart of Nore to figure that out. A great observation by her that made me, without hesitation, come to a conclusion that they’ve never aged a bit and that they never will. But that doesn’t mean that they are immortal, just that they will never age no matter how many years pass by.

When I read this quote got I tears in my eyes, because it is very difficult to live without the people you like, special if it was that those who helped you when no one was at your side. But I think they will meet one day, and hope they can live happily.

When somebody want to say goodbye I think it's a little bit sad because I don't like the word "goodbye".
Every time someone is going to leave it seems like we never gonna see each other again.
And that's the worst thing for me , to never see a person again.
And when Terry says goodbye to Elizabeth I think it's sad because she will never see her daughter anymore..

This part is kind of scary and intresting because it´s the big secret that they have been trying to keep for decades and know Nore knows it. This part also tells you that the familly have done this for so many years that they have becomed proffesionals, and have it all figuered out. The cold hearted killing maybe is for getting the rich men´s money, i think.

I picked this qoute in the ending of the story in the last page.She's really good that she finally choosednot to blame others because it was only her fault anyways.It's like this qoute "What goes around comes around."
She will prosumably forgett about Elizabeth but later when she's all grown up and got a job.She can visit her doughter after all she's the birthmother but only if Elizabeth wants to.

The book was fantasticly good and I loved it.These kind of books is my favourite and when I'm reading a book and it's really interesting I finish it no time.I recommended this book to my friends if they decide to read an eglish book.

I'm reading the book "Someone else's baby", the more you read the better is the book and I understand more now compare from the beginning.And it's more interesting.

My opinion: When you tell somebody something like that, especielly your parents, and then it gets quiet I think that silence means that your decision is wrong even if they thought that you should take that decision from the beginning.This part reminds me of things that happened to me, although it was not about this subject, but the same reactions came from my parents and I hated that silence.

Now I'm finish with chapter 9-11. This book is more and more exiting I really like that.

I think that the mother could imagine how Terry felt and how hard this affect her. When I wrote this sentence I got a picture in front of me, Terrys mother sitting in the kitchen and thinking about Terry, she want to help her but is it worth to risk all I have done so far?. I think that her heart saying that she should help her and the brain saying that she have to take the responsibility for her mistakes. She followed her heart and risk much just by help her daughter, this is a real mother who loves her daughter and has the braveness to stand up for her feelings. I elected this part because I tought about my mother, I know that if this would happened to me she would never helped me and she will never stand up for her feelings. I asked my father about this and he would't either helped me¨not with this circumstance. I think that this part is the best so far because It really capture my attention and my tought.

I´ve been through this and I can tell that it was so scary that I thought it was my lost minutes of live. I couldn't scream or react I even had a hard time breathing it felt like I got stiffened and thats why I choosed this part.

Chapter 11-15

In this part of the text, Gabe askes Nore if she wants to leave with him and go to a place where only the two of them can be together. A place were circumstances don’t excist. But Nore becomes shocked when she hears what Gabe has to say. The question he ask comes unexpectely. She’s not ready to take that step, and she doesn’t want to make her dad dissapointed. Gabe tells that Felicite, his old girlfriend was uncertain at first too. He tells Nore that they lived together as husband and wife for eight years. Of course Nore react to this. It’s not impossible that Gabe’s and Felicite’s romance took place, when Gabe was nine years old. Especially not if they lived together. In some way this part of the text is quite funny. Both Gabe and Josie, are saying things that doesn’t conform with the reality. I think Nore beginning to understand what is really going on, most because of Gabe's and Josie's mistakes.

“ No it’s not,” I said. “What I’m talking about is just one family, doing the exact thing a number of times. I’m talking about a family with a secret, and that secret is that none of them ever age.”

In thise scene, Nore and Dave was visiting Charlie, a man who worked at Shadow Grove many years ago. Thanks to this visit, Nore finally get things clear. She has figured out the familys secret. But how will she handle the situation, and how will she convince her father that she is right..?

I look forward to read the end of the book ..

This part shows that her mum wants the best for her daughter. That's why she wants to "leave" her husband and move into a flat with her pregnant daughter. She wants to help her daughter with the baby and make a good family. She loves her husband but she have to leave him for a while and spend a lot of time with her daughter.The daughter thinks that the future is uncertain.
I think that she will keep the baby. I don't think she wants to have the baby adopted.

I am anxious to read about the end..

Here she explains how she feels. Maybe she is thinking that she sulks all those around her. But for her to take her first steps in life she needs to be a little more courage to deal with all the difficult problems that happen her. I was happy for her debt that she really wants to take the decision, which shows that human beings learn from their mistakes and can move forward in life.
I also liked about it was fine when she said it's me, that she can not be someone else so that her father will be pleased.

Chapter 6-10

I choose this quote because I really thought this part of the text was touching . In this event, Dave has just been on a visit to ask Nore for a date. But Josie is interested of Dave and she become both disappointed and hurt. She tought Dave was coming to visit her. Although Nore told Dave that she was “busy” both of the days he asked her out, Josie deficiencies in tears. I think Josie deficiencies in tears because I have suspicions that the family is "locked in time". I think they have lived for many many years, but that they don’t grow old. There is much in the book that suggest this. Josie takes hard on this, because she knows that she’s not going to grow old. And that everything always will be exactly the same.

I have to say there are many people that everyone knows there ones it well be a change in life.


Everytime and everywhere she look at so there well be children, she is so confused when she hear the voice inside her. If she lisinning to the bad voice or maybe good from inside her or the other people around her so she never going to keep the baby. If the voice is good when she only listening hearself so she going to keep the baby.


My opinions is the baby has make her to think about herself and to take what the importnat is in hers life, when she says"i have decided, i want to have it adopted. It is a tuff decition to take but that makes her more stranger and more adult. I think she need to change in her life somewhere, and there comes. she change hersself every second,time,days,months and years the second maybe she has grow up but when she thinking about hers parents especilly the father so she is still a little tenager. She have to learn herself to weigh between hers life and decition and the parents.

This part I picked because of the meaning it had to me as a reader. It answere some of my questions. When I read this part I just wanted to keep reading. I wanted to know were it would leed. I got really suspisous of Nore´s three new family members.

It seems that Lisette is getting more and more nervous about Nore maybe finding out about their secret which, according to this quote, has something to do with time. And on the basis of what I previously read in the book and because of the title, I think that the Bergé-family is somehow locked in time and that Gabe has always been 17 and Josie 13. And ofcourse, their mother Lisette is also trapped in that same situation.
And it also seems that Lisette doesn't want Nore and Gabe to develop some sort of romance because she is afraid that Gabe might tell her their secret, and if Nore finds it out, something terrible might happen to her.
She sees her as a threat to them just because of Nore's awareness of time.

I chose this quote because it made me think about what Nore's mum told her in her dream, I first thought that it was just a dream, but now it seems like she's right. I'm starting to wonder how Lisette's in control of everything in Shadow Grive. And I'm getting even more curious about what's going to happen after what Josie and Lisette were talking about.

Useful reading skills

In yesterday's class we talked about useful strategies when you read a text that you find a bit difficult to get through. Together we came up with the following:

• underline difficult words as you read, but keep reading and look them up after you have finished the chapter. If you get stuck looking up too many words you lose the context and you might get too bored to actually finish the book
• write down difficult words and expressions on a piece of paper and go back to look them up when you have finished reading the chapter
• try to focus on the general ideas in the text, not on the details or individual words
• summarize the most important events of the chapter in your head or in writing in just a few sentences. If you have trouble doing this you need to go back and read some of it again
• use your logic to try to figure out what is important in the text
• focus on one paragraph or one chapter at a time
• be confident and keep reading, many situations will be explained later in the book and you will understand it eventually
• go back an re-read some parts again, sometimes that helps a lot

In today's class I wanted to focus on another very important reading strategy that you all have, but you may not always think about it. That is your ability to predict or to guess what will happen next in the story or in any text, really.

We looked at a simple dialogue in which I had erased a few lines. Drawing on our previous experiences we quickly figured out that the dialogue took place in a restaurant and the two people were a costumer and a waiter. Even though we had very little written information it was easy for us to figure out the context.

We also looked at the opening paragraphs of two stories and we discussed possible scenarios for the next paragraph. We came to the conclusion that we all had different ideas of what would happen next, because we all have different experiences in life. We interpret a story differently and that is a good thing!

We agreed on that some outcomes are more likely than others, and in fact some outcomes are possible, but highly unlikely, both because they are unlikey to happen in real life and because there were no indications of that outcome previously in the text.

The point of the discussion was: make use of the knowledge and experiences that you already have when you are reading a text and try to predict or guess what will happen next. If you practise doing that you will find that reading becomes a lot easier and also more fun.

Someons else's baby chapter 4-7

I really like the second part I mean chapter 4-7. Many things happened and she have many decision in front of her. This book is very interesting and I can´t stop reading it.

First I think I shouldn't be here, I don't belong in this place. But then I think I've got to stick up for myself like Kitty Madden does, get my rights.

In the begining she was very uncertain but now she began to thing more about herself. Her mother always do what her dad wants her to do, she never stood up for herself. The girl was very tired of that weakness her mother has. The mother like Billy more than the girl and tha mother failed her because Billy has something important. Then the girl told her opinion for the first time and I really like this parts when the characters go forward and grow as a person. You have to stand up for yourself no one will do that for you, you have to do it yourself.

" I have decided"; I say "I want to have it adopted". But in my head another voice is saying the oppisite "No you don´t" says this inside voice "You don´t at all."

I can understand that she is confused, but it seems that she is listeing to everybothy else except herselfe. She needs to listen to herselfe otherwise she will regret her decision.
