Åsa on the Obama speech Saturday, November 15, 2008

I have now commented on your posts on the Barack Obama speech. Overall, you did a good job analyzing his speech. Those of you who wrote the most interesting posts made personal comments and you also quoted parts of the speech to enhance what you were saying.
A tip to improve your writing: Try to avoid only talking about the speech in general terms when analyzing it. To make a good post you need to address both general ideas as well as details.
In class we read about Rosa Parks and here is the text message that was being passed around amongst Obama supporters after his victory:
"Rosa sat so Martin could walk. Martin walked so Barack could run. Barack is running so our children can fly."
Once you know who Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King were that quote makes a lot more sense. I just love it. It says a lot in very few words, doesn't it?

Please note: I am missing the speech analyses from the following members: Mich4, Seham, Jennifer, Jasmine, Donna and Natalie.
