What´s Eating Gilbert Saturday, October 25, 2008

The movie I saw was about a family that consisted of a great mother two sisters and a little brother and the oldest brother Gilbert. It is often said that all those who are older than everyone else when it is on who will take care of the family, especially if the mother can take care of the family, no father seemed to. Therefore Gill Bert knew that he was obliged to take care of his family most of all take care of his little brother who was retarded who did not understand himself or what he used to do that could disrupt the whole.

Since Gillbert had not father, mother could barely move, he was the eldest and he first chose anything about his family he knew that he was not forced to choose for himself, he never thought of themselves or had no future plans and if he did, he would always feel cheating on his family in any way. They say if you're going to plant the crops so we must take care of the well so long as they live for if he leaves the halfway then they may die or can grow unusual and I think that Gillbert felt the same thing, I think he did it right and there was evidence that he was a good man and he said himself that he wanted to be a good person and he did, because he had a retarded brother who was so dependent on Gillbert, he was a very important person and part of Arnie life because without Gillbert so he would not be so old, because he always ended up in huge high point where if you had fallen, it will not be able to find their body parts and Gillbert could handle such a situation and save his life, he knew how to get him down. A scene of Arnie's most emotional scene and the best was when he finally took to the mother died while he was retarded and how could it be that he understood that the mother will no longer wake up again to life and was the first time could you see that he was an adult exactly the same day he celebrated eighteen years, the scene I will never forget. He used to always say I can go "I think he meant that he could do what he wants, and that he used to do what he wanted and he was aware that nobody would deny no to him.

Sometimes Gilbert could really be annoyed at him because he did evil things fixed Arnie could not help it and the last time when Gill Bert understood that he did not have more time to their little private life and he was scared in any way that he would remain there and he could be very aggressive against himself and against Arnie which just came out words from Gill Berts and mouth without knowing what he was talking about the same time did it hurt if he had not met Arnie a single day, both Gill Bert and Arnie were dependent on each other, it would do even more evil if he had not helped him and hugging.

After meeting with Becky changed the whole, Gilbert stopped and have affair, Becky made him think of himself little choice understand the difference between being responsible for his family and to his own life by deciding which way he would aim his arrow. Arnie to both Becky and Gillbert had the same personality, she was not only a change in Gillberts life but also Arnie life she got Arnie to dare to swim and had fun together every time they met. I think the movie house to tell us that we must take care of each other, but you should also think about themselves and decide what you like before you choose for others, choosing to others before himself ultimately forgets himself and its future. That stuff and dance can easily happen.

Since it began by Gillbert and Arnie to be alone and waited of caravans holiday and while he told about life with the whole family, and when it ended with the fact that only Gillbert and Arnie, and he finished with his speech that he is free and can go every he wants to, finally, he had his plans in his future.

I totally agree with your interpretation of Arnie as a symbol of freedom and him always saying that he could go anytime. It has a double meaning: he could die anytime or he could leave whenever he wants to. Good pick up!
